Aunt Jackie’s Knot on my Watch – Product Review

I love getting my Curlkit subscription box. Every month I get something new and exciting to try and add to my natural hair regimen. Well, I recently received a product that claimed to be an Instant Detangling Therapy, Aunt Jackie’s Curls & Coils; Knot On My Watch.
I was a little apprehensive because a lot of products claim to do something and never work on my hair. I must say, this product did just what it said, it made detangling a breeze. Here is my review on Aunt Jackie’s.

Product Review

Product Name: Aunt Jackie’s Curls & Coils Knot On My Watch Instant Detangling Therapy

Price:  I received my 12 fl. oz bottle with a Curlkit subscription box, but I looked online and found as low as $7.55 (from

Size: 12 oz.

Product Description: Softens, helps restores moisture balance, eliminates knots, and tangles for natural curls, coils and waves.  Also protects against breakage, blended with Shea butter and olive oil to soften and strengthen.  Can be used daily with styling and overall manageability.

Ingredients:  Aqua (Water), Propylene Glycol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit, PEG-150 Distearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Glycerin, Parfum (Fragrance), Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, PPG-1 Trideceth-6, Cyclopentasiloxane, Phenyl Trimethicone, Lanolin Oil, Polyquaternium-37, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Acrylamidopropyltrimonium Chloride/Acrylamide Copolymer, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Stearalkonium Chloride, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, d-Limonene, Hexyl cinnamic aldehyde, Linalool, Amyl cinnamic aldehyde, Lilial,Benzyl alcohol, Citronellol, Hydroxycitronellal, Cinnamic alcohol, 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one, 2-Methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one, CI 17200 (Red 33), CI 19140 (Yellow)

My Experience:  It had been over a week since I cowashed my hair, so I wanted to do some type of deep conditioning. To begin I sectioned my hair into eight sections to make detangling a little easier. I, then spritzed my hair with a little water, added a a small amount of the Instant Detangling Therapy. I immediately felt the slip and finger detangling was easy. I was amazed how quickly I was able to detangle each section. After detangling, I did a hot oil treatment.

Fragrance:  The product has a sweet, floral scent. Not too overpowering and light.

Results:  Great! Aunt Jackie’s made detangling very easy. I used it to detangle then went into a hot oil treatment, but you can use this product and then go directly into styling as usual.

Final Thoughts:  I would purchase this product again for the ease of detangling. When I detangled using Aunt Jackie’s it went much faster and made finger detangling very easy. The few knots I did have were very easy to undo, pulling from finger detangling didn’t cause as much shedding. I would recommend and purchase this product in the future. Love it!!!

I give this product: 4 1/2 out of 5 Stars

Peace and Blessings!

  1. I found this at my local Family Dollar for 5 bucks. I did a double-take when I was in the beauty aisle. Haha. So random, but so good.

  3. Great to read your review!I'm a 3b/3c & live in Australia where it's impossible to find silicone-free products for curly hair even in specialised hairdressers… there certainly nothing to be found in hair-marts, much less the supermarket. I've been looking at what we can get online & saw this & Dr Bronner's Lavender Hair Conditioning & Styling Creme.I've gone sulphate & cone-free for the last month & can't believe how much better my hair has become (it's still a bit on the blech side, but I'd truly forgotten how curly my hair really is, not just dry pyramid of straw & puffs of frizz)!I was thinking of using this as a 'replacement' for John Frieda's Frizz Ease (grrr, that cones+cones+more cones mix nearly killed my hair). At the moment I've just been using real argan oil (not the commercial hair product bottles of 10 types of silicone with 3 drops of argan oil so that they can claim that it's organic) for plopping & scrunching. It's a shocker to distribute & just doesn't give me the slip I need unless I mix it with a bit of aloe vera gel. Do you think it would work well just as a pre-dry moisturiser & curl separater, or do you think it's only good as a detangler before other products for drying? My hair has started screaming for moisture & seems to be slurping up every drop of Argan oil I've been smoothing through the mid-lengths to ends every day… so, that's where I'm thinking the Dr Bronner would be good as a between washes moisturiser as argan oil can't be distributed evenly without rubbing it into the hair or getting blobs of it on in some places & missing everything else.Auntie Jackie's is $16.99 + nearly $10 postage & handling; Dr Bronner is $12.95 + nearly $10 postage & handling (can't even buy them from the same site :( !!) As I'll still need to address the shrinkage & other styling issues (gone from my hair half way down my shoulder blades to shoulder length without a cut), I really don't want to waste my hard earned cash on products that don't work.Cheers!

  4. My hair is 4b 4c apl . I ♥ this product. If you like kc knot today, this is your type of leave in

  5. I’ve been using Aunt Jackie since i came across it at my local Family Dollar .. And i’ve used the detangling knot on my watch , and the defining curl custard .. They both are amazing , and helps your hair feel and smell amazing .. pricing is high considering its from Family Dollar , but going to an actual hair store ranges in the same price for both ..
