Layering is crucial when you live in Los Angeles. Just because you walk out the door and it’s 80 degrees, doesn’t mean its going to stay warm into the evening. The day could easily go from hot to cold within hours. During the winter months layering is so important for me because my office is usually very warm, so I need to be able to remove a layer or two be be comfortable. Don’t want an executive to walk in my office I’m sitting there with sweat dripping down my face.
I love how fun this look is. The dress over the leggings, layered with the cardigan, scarf and pop of color jacket. Not only was this look comfortable but perfect for those casual days. I could have easily removed the cardigan and scarf for a great look with just the dress and leggings. The versatility in this look is amazing. That’s why I love Target. The dress, scarf, cardigan and jacket are all from one of my favorite stores. Who says you can’t look cute on a budget?
This is a shout out to all my budget friendly fashionistas! You never know where you’ll find that perfect piece. Thrift shopping is one of my favorite things to do because you find pieces that are unique and you have to use your imagination to truly make the look come alive. Looking for deals when shopping is part of the fun. I know that I don’t want to spend a fortune every time I shop, but I do want to invest in key pieces that will last for many years to come. Key pieces include, a great pencil skirt, perfect fitting blazer, white button down shirt and the perfect Little Black Dress. These are pieces that you can mix and match with a variety of options within your closet.
When shopping for deals, look at the fabric of the item. 100% cotton is great, but doesn’t have much elasticity so they can loose their shape, but getting cotton with a mix of spandex, elastane or polyester will help to maintain the shape. Don’t shy away from polyester, maybe just look for polyester blends because polyester has good strength and resilience, lightweight and is also hydrophobic which means that it feels dry when wet and the fabric will move moisture away from the skin.
Knowing more about fabrics will help you make good choices when thrift or bargain shopping for clothing. It’s also a curse to know about fabrics because you tend to spend more on clothing, but you know that it’s going to last you for a very long time.
