On Saturday, January 4, 2013 I was honored to attend Marie Denee of “The Curvy Fashionista 5 year Anniversary party at the Club Nokia at LA Live in Downtown, Los Angeles. When I saw the invite to attend, I knew I wanted to be there to celebrate with one of the most influential women in the plus size industry.

Club Nokia is located in the heart of Downtown, Los Angeles where Staples Center and Nokia Live is located. This area is becoming one of LA’s top night spots with clubs, restaurants, cafe’s and boutiques.

As you arrived to the venue, which was in the VIP Lounge, you were immediately greeted by a hostess in a small room, once the hostess had our names, we then were greeted by another hostess that escorted us to the elevator, as the doors to the elevator opened to the 3rd floor, music and laughter filled the air. We walked into this grand room with elegant lighting and the decor was reminiscent of art deco with a contemporary feel.

Guest were dancing, mingling and of course partaking of the bar. As I looked around from corner to corner, bloggers, models, editors, everyone in the plus fashion industry was in the room. Representatives from Sonsee, which sponsored the event, came from Australia and Blogger, Chastity of GarnerStyle came from the bay area, all to celebrate with Marie Denee. It was amazing to see so many people that I look up to and admire together in one place.

The space was huge and offered plenty of seating and private areas with sheer curtains. As a added bonus to the night, Marie offered a photo booth, so guests can have souvenirs to take home. The bartenders were making the drinks perfectly and the mini cupcakes hit the spot. The night was so much.

During the event, door prizes were handed out. Although, I didn’t win, it was so much fun watching those that did. Marie also took a moment to thank the sponsors for the event and they had a chance to say a few words, but the moment of tears came when Marie took a moment to thank everyone for coming and supporting her. Special thanks went to Chenese Lewis, who Marie says has been there for her throughout the years and was sad that Chenese was moving to Louisana. Marie also thanked MissDunnieO, who was the producer of the event and has produced many events that you may be familiar with such as the Curly Cartel.

As the night progressed, we all enjoyed the DJ, who played the latest cuts, enjoyed the company and most of all we all enjoyed celebrating 5 years with Marie Denee and we wish her many more years of continued Success!
